Job Description:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

The Assistant Vocational Trainer provides direct individualized work skills training and work supervision to a small group of individuals receiving services (hereinafter referred to as "individuals"). Provides support to the Vocational Trainer to reach productions quotas set by customer. Completes contract work as assigned by Vocational Trainer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Training Duties

  • Assists the individuals in developing work skills, habits and attitudes
  • Orients individuals to work situations and trains such individuals in the performance of specified work tasks
  • Adapts work methods to meet individuals needs
  • Designs and/or assists in building adaptive jigs and fixtures as necessary, to facilitate production
  • Assigns individuals receiving services to production tasks based on their interests and abilities
  • Familiarity with health and safety requirements ensuring that individuals receiving services are safe
  • Participates in Agency in-service, staff meetings, and training
  • Observes monitors and records individuals’ progress in skills development in relation to service plan objectives
  • Adapts work methods to meet individuals’ needs
  • Provides daily documentation for CPV goals, monthly CPV notes
  • Utilizes Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) procedures when necessary
  • Transports individuals to and from program when necessary
  • Consistently complies with all Agency policies and procedures
  • Constantly maintains high performance standards at work with regard to personal behavior and interactions with staff, individuals and outside agencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Production Duties

  • Monitors quality and precision of work produced to ensure conformance with job specifications
  • On a daily basis records time and production completed by individuals to Vocational Trainer, ensuring that such is accurate, complete and signed
  • Monitors quantity and quality control procedures to ensure conformance with job specifications
  • Modifies each job to meet individual’s needs
  • Attends production staff meetings
  • Obtains and returns product from the warehouse
  • Loads and unloads trucks when necessary
  • Operates electrical hand trucks and other equipment upon completion of requisite training

Experience and Skills:

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Moderate level of written and oral communication skills
  • Moderate level of interpersonal skills
  • Extensive knowledge of behavioral techniques and developmental disabilities to assist in the care of individuals receiving services
  • Knowledge of computer and ability to utilize various software programs
  • Successful completion and certification of First Aid/CPR, AAA Safe Driver Training and SCIP training upon hire is required

EDUCATION & TRAINING

Preferred: One year experience in production or manufacturing, and/or work with the developmentally disabled population.

Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalency required.

Valid New York State Driver’s License in good standing, current auto insurance, and reliable motor vehicle required.
