Job Description:


The Shipping and Warehouse Supervisor, serves as the primary point of contact for the all Shipping and Receiving activities for our designated suite(s) located in the Tri-Main building. Responsibilities include management of the flow of consigned goods from customers to Diversified Labor Solutions ("DLS"), delivering finished goods from DLS back to customers, and supervision and direction of the small team of Production and Warehouse Clerks in assigning relevant tasks. Additional duties also include assisting in transportation of individuals ("individuals") to and from work center, work skills training and supervision of groups of individuals receiving services and laborers, while providing support to the Vocational Trainers.


Supervisory Duties:

  • Responsible for planning, overseeing, and participating in the central warehouse operations and activities, which include, receiving, processing and issuing warehouse stock. Assignment may include operation of transport equipment for delivery of supplies and materials.
  • Daily supervision of Production and Warehouse clerks
  • Supervision of individuals and Laborers assigned to shipping and receiving areas
  • Responsible for the timely review and approval of Time and Attendance records
  • Serves as back up for the Coordinator of Production - Internal, in their absence, assigning work based on customer’s needs and availability.
  • Coordinates and assists with the transportation of individuals to and from program daily

Warehouse Duties:

  • Picks up and delivers consigned goods between customers and DLS
  • Assists in inventory control, including daily monitoring and calculations for inventory levels, and implementation of and adherence to inventory control policies and procedures
  • Operation of all electrical and mechanical equipment upon required training
  • Maintains warehouse and all equipment in a clean and organized fashion including any steps to ensure cleanliness and provide safe surroundings for all.
  • Ensures that incoming items are accurate and correct compared to the customer shipping receipts
  • Notifies Coordinator of Production - Internal of any discrepancies or damage to products received or completed
  • Loads and unloads all products incoming from customer and outgoing for deliveries onto and off of Agency and Customer Vehicle(s)
  • Responsible for accurate picking, packing, and handling of products to be delivered to customers
  • Responsible for day to day maintenance of Agency vehicles, including short term and long term maintenance needs, such as: minimum of quarter tank of gas, oil checks, inspections, registrations, and adherence to preventative maintenance schedule
  • Reports any issues with, damage to, or accidents with Agency Vehicle(s) to Coordinator of Production - Internal and Facilities Manager upon discovery
  • Preparation of all shipping documentation when deemed necessary
  • Maintains an updated inventory of the incoming and outgoing materials and goods on an as needed basis.

Production Duties

  • Assists the individuals in developing work skills, habits and attitudes
  • Orients individuals to work situations and trains such individuals in the performance of specified work tasks
  • Monitors quality and precision of work produced to ensure compliance with job specifications
  • Adapts work methods to meet individuals’ needs
  • Attends production staff meetings
  • Keeps up to date with Health and Safety requirements and regulations
  • Participates in Agency in-service and staff meetings when required
  • Consistently complies with all Agency policies and procedures
  • Constantly maintains high performance standards at work with regard to personal behavior and interactions with staff, individuals, and outside agencies
  • Position may entail occasional overtime when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience and Skills:


  • Moderate level of math and reasoning skills
  • High level of time management skills
  • Moderate level of written and oral communication skills
  • Moderate level of interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of behavioral techniques and developmental disabilities to assist in the care of individuals
  • Knowledge of computer and ability to utilize work processing programs and computerized inventory control system
  • Successful completion and Certification of First Aid, AAA Safe Driver Training, provided upon hire
  • Ability to understand and execute instructions
  • Ability to follow directions, exercise sound judgment, decision making and remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with department personnel, staff, customers, and vendor representatives; works effectively as a member of a team.


Preferred: Associates or BS/BA Degree in Warehousing, Inventory Control, Logistics, Business or related field PLUS two years paid experience in production, manufacturing, warehouse or similar field and/or work with the developmentally disabled population and one year of supervisory/leadership experience in similar fields. One year experience driving a Box truck or other similar delivery vehicle.

Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalency PLUS three years paid experience in production, manufacturing, warehouse or similar field and/or work with the developmentally disabled population and two years of supervisory/leadership experience in similar fields. One year experience driving a Box truck or other similar delivery vehicle.

Valid New York State Driver’s License in good standing, New York automobile insurance, and a reliable motor vehicle required.
